The Varsity Lady Bobcats took home the Championship hardware last night after the high spirited send- off from the School Pep Rally yesterday afternoon.   The Lady Bobcats finished the season a perfect 12-0 and are the 2018 QVJC Girls Large Division Basketball Champions.  Last night they played the No.2 seeded Thompson Tigers.  The contest was tight early with a 10-10 score at the end of the first quarter.  The Bobcats pulled away by 11, 28-17 with a pressure, pressing defense and fast break basketball.   They continued the pressure defense and fast break play into the third quarter leading by 17 points after three quarters, 41-24 and finished with patient play in the fourth quarter to maintain the lead and garner the Win.

The Bobcats were led by Emma Carpenter, 22 points and Aurissa Boardman, 19 points.  Thompson was led by Brianna Mead with 20 points.  Bobcats Aila Gutierrez played pressure defense on Mead all night to keep her in check.  Bobcats Ella Davis and Liz Lovrien each pulled down 10 rebounds apiece and protected the basket and led the Bobcats in the paint.

The 2018 QVJC Basketball Championship is the first for the Lady Bobcats since 2012.  And based on the strength of the anticipated returning players, next year's Team is the pre-season favorite to repeat in 2019.

Head Coach Gutierrez is extremely proud of the team and program as the Girls came every day to work hard, advance their skill levels and WIN.  It was truly a rare and special year.

Thank You Bobcat Nation!!

The Boys Varsity finished their undefeated season with 56-40 victory over Thompson in the Championship game of the QVJC Large School division. This capped off the first undefeated season for the boys basketball team in the schools recent history.

The boys began the Championship game on a 7-0 run and never looked back. This due to the combined scoring of Ethan Davis and Greg Bigelow, who led a strong offensive attack that prevented Thompson from making any run to close the 16 point gap between the two teams. The team shut the Tigers down in the first half with a relentless 2-3 zone defense and outrebounded Thompson throughout the game.

The team was led in scoring by Ethan Davis with 28 points and Greg Bigelow with 15 points off of 5 for 8 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. The boy’s team is very deep with talented players such as Frankie Feuti who scored some big points along with the play of Yianni Baribeau, Jackson Goetz, Alex Levesque and Xavier Allers who helped play shutdown defense on Thompsons top scorers.

We are not only proud of the boys play, but of their sportsmanship and leadership they demonstrated on and off the court. These young men proved to be strong role models in the classroom as well as on the court. The boys basketball team has set the bar as to what is expected of our student athletes, compete and play hard while obtaining a set goal.  These young athletes also demonstrated humbleness and strong sportsmanship at all times.

We wish to thank all of the staff and administration that has supported our team throughout our Championship season and as Coach I could not be prouder of our schools student athletes and I look forward to our students continued success.
